Also known as red ventrimaculatus, R. amazonicus is a beautiful ventrimaculatus group frog! Fairly shy, but the elusive beauty of this frog has made it popular for years. One nice thing about this frog is that its a good group frog, there are rarely any issues with multiple frogs in a terrarium. Relatively easy to breed, but the tadpoles and froglets can be difficult.
We have quite a few of these here, and should be able to offer a few sexed pairs during the fall and winter of 2011, but this item is for well established unsexed juvenile frogs.
Thumbnail dart frogs present special challenges, especially for the beginning hobbyist. Please read the appropriate caresheets, particularly this one, if you are at all uncertain about the care of these frogs. In addition after reading this and the other relevant caresheets, if you still have questions don't hesitate to email!
