Two part Terrarium Substrate

This product is an ideal substrate for your dart frog tank. The bottom layer is a product manufactured for growing plants hydroponically, clay pellets which have been baked at high heat and puffed up into small porous balls.

Over this put a layer of our Red Flint natural aquarium gravel, crushed to around 1/8th inch in size. This non organic substrate cannot break down and rot, as organic substrates do.  It will promote a clean tank, and extend time between tank breakdowns, sometimes by years! While you may think that this substrate sounds austere and unnatural, it really looks great once you decorate the tank with moss, plants, hide spots and leaves. We ship you about one gallon of Hydroton clay pellets, and about a half gallon of the gravel, which is ample for a ten gallon tank. Order additional packs for each ten gallon increase in tank size.
