The blue and black form of D. auratus has long been a very popular frog, despite the fact that they are not as bold as some of the other forms of auratus. These are one of only two or three dart frogs that are mostly blue. The blue auratus is a very good choice as a group frog- they do well in groups of their own species, and they will usually do well with other species.
