2 Portion Hydei "Cup o' Flies"
Two portions of Hydei Fruit flies, packed into two 24oz cups. Shipping Hydei cultures when close to production has a low success rate, we've found. All too often the shipment process disturbs their development and they never emerge. So, instead we offer cups full of hydei flies. A small amount of media is added to the bottom of the cup for food while in transit, along with some wood shavings, and approximately 2000 flies are added to the cup....no, we don't count them but you can if you like, let us know! Each "portion", or cup of flies will make three to four new cultures, or feed about ten dart frog tanks (20 or so frogs)
We’ve recently increased our production of hydei flies to help make this product more often available, so we should be able to more reliably offer it. Unfortunately our production of melanogaster flies is largely consumed by our own frogs here….we are looking at ways to increase the supply of the melanogaster as well, however for the moment, if those show as out of stock, we can usually replace a single cup of your order of 2 or 4 hydei “cup o’ flies” with melanogasters, just request this in the message box while placing your order. In the event that we cannot, we’ll provide a producing melanogaster fruit fly culture instead. Thanks!
Please note that Hydei are a little less reliable, in terms of when a batch of cultures will hatch, than are melanogaster, and it is always possible that we wont be able to fulfill your order within the normal time frame of Monday and Wednesday shipments. If you have any doubts don't hesitate to ask! If we get an order that we can't fill on the normal shipping day, we will send you a message and ship the order as soon as possible.
Please note that you can use the “message” function in checkout to customize this order, for instance rather than ordering 2 Fruit Fly Cultures and 2 Fruit Fly Cups, you can order 4 Fruit Fly Cultures and note that you would like to substitute two (or one, or three!) Hydei “Cup O’ Flies” for two of the Fruit Fly Cultures, in the Message section, as you check out. As always Hydei “Cup O’ Flies” are limited so these requests are subject to availability.
