Philodendron hebetatum
This rare Philodendron has been offered on this site and a couple of others as "Columbia Narrow", due to the original collector being uncertain of its species name. In fact, most likely this plant had not yet been classified when the original cuttings were taken. Original cuttings were taken in Columbia. Based on some research I've done, I think there is a very high chance that this is philodendron hebetatum. Input welcome!
This plant is another rare find, as it tends to grow more slowly than other philodendrons and is easy to keep small, at least in the terrarium. Long narrow leaves are produced off a heavy stem. Leaves have a lovely glossy green look. Leaves in my terrariums tend to be around 1 inch wide and eight to twelve inches long. No doubt given the right lighting and space they could become somewhat larger but it seems very content to stay smaller and will readily grow up backgrounds or other tank decor. In the wild it becomes rather large!

Offered plants are potted and established, however they are, currently, somewhat smaller than the picture. Current (June 2020) offerings were cut as fairly large leaf plants but those leaves failed to survive and the plant then came back with smaller leaves...so each of the two being offered have six or seven inch long leaves, only two, but are well established in the pot and should be ready to push out a few leaves in the next few months. |

Many of our plants will be eligible for our FedEx 2nd Day Flat rate shipping. We are delighted to be able to offer this service, as we feel it is a big improvement over Priority Mail, and only a couple of bucks more. Note that you can change your shipping choice to another service option if you like, and in some cases this may be needed for safety. Please keep in mind that depending on weather conditions you may need to have your plants held for pickup at a local FedEx location, or have your order shipped via overnight service. We may contact you and suggest one of these options if we feel that your shipment is not able to be shipped safely with your selected form of shipping. While the cart defaults to the flat rate shipping, you can change this in the check out process.
Live arrival guarantee- Plants are guaranteed to arrive alive and in good condition if temps along shipping route and at your location are between 40 and 80 degrees. If temps are going to be outside of these parameters, especially at your location on the day of delivery, we highly recommend having the package held for pickup at your local FedEx station. Either input this address as the "ship to" address, or ask and we use your home address to find the nearest appropriate FedEx location.
In the event of an issue please contact us as soon as possible. Replacement is the sole remedy for live arrival issues, shipping for replacement order is the responsibility of the buyer.
