Alocasia Amazonica

Alocasia Amazonica

Alocasia Amazonica, also known as "Polly" or Dwarf Amazonica, is a small Alocasia hybrid.  If you are not familiar with this genus of tropical plants, they are also known (as a group) as "Elephant Ears" and they can be very large species!  So, while this is a small alocasia, it is still a larger plant. The beautiful leaves and relatively slow growth make it worthwhile though, and if you regularly trim out the tallest leaves you can keep it under control.  I have them in 75 gallon tanks and in this tank, which is 24 inches high, they reach the lid but that seems to be about it.  Smaller plants such as you will recieve in this offering will likely take around a year or so to start pushing at the lid of your taller tank.   If you find that the plant is too much at this point you can just cut it back to the ground and it will start over, and take many months before it becomes too much again....meanwhile you get to enjoy its gorgeous foliage and your frogs will enjoy its flat surfaces above the floor of the tank to move around on.

Plants are generally a bit smaller than the one pictured, but this is aproximately what you can expect.

Plant Shipping info!

Many of our plants will be eligible for our FedEx 2nd Day Flat rate shipping.  We are delighted to be able to offer this service, as we feel it is a big improvement over Priority Mail, and only a couple of bucks more.  Note that you can change your shipping choice to another service option if you like, and in some cases this may be needed for safety.  Please keep in mind that depending on weather conditions you may need to have your plants held for pickup at a local FedEx location, or have your order shipped via overnight service.  We may contact you and suggest one of these options if we feel that your shipment is not able to be shipped safely with your selected form of shipping.  While the cart defaults to the flat rate shipping, you can change this in the check out process.

Live arrival guarantee- Plants are guaranteed to arrive alive and in good condition if temps along shipping route and at your location are between 40 and 80 degrees.  If temps are going to be outside of these parameters, especially at your location on the day of delivery, we highly recommend having the package held for pickup at your local FedEx station.  Either input this address as the "ship to" address, or ask and we use your home address to find the nearest appropriate FedEx location.

In the event of an issue please contact us as soon as possible.  Replacement is the sole remedy for live arrival issues, shipping for replacement order is the responsibility of the buyer.
